Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen and Ballpoint Pen set, in box.
Product Name Cotele or Master .... we're not sure despite lengthy research
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, France -- 1970s.
Length Fountain Pen: 5-1/4" ; Ballpoint Pen: A little shy of 4-1/4"
Filling System The fountain pen takes Waterman refills, or you can fill via the included converter (it's a modern Waterman piston converter). The ballpoint pen takes a slim Waterman refill that is no longer made (it's like the early Must de Cartier refills with the gently flared top). There is one in the pen but it is out of ink.
Color Mottled grey lacquer that ranges from dark grey (almost black) to light grey (it's an unusual and pretty patterning). Gold plated trim.
Nib SEMI-FLEX MEDIUM Waterman 18k gold nib is smooth with lovely tipping material. It's somewhat flexible, with a little line variation. See writing sample photo.
Condition Excellent + condition for these shiny, cylindrical pens that come in their original Waterman's box with black velveteen and silk lining. The fountain pen: The barrel looks great with just some micro-scratching. The cap has a light scratch to the right of the center of the clip. The clip has some plating wear along the edges, especially toward the end of the clip. The section has horizontal capping lines and some light scratching. The ballpoint pen: The pen has light scratching throughout. The clip has a scratch mark toward the top. For both pens, the gold end pieces have light scratching. No cracks, dents, chips, or dings. The imprints are clear.
