Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen, working well.
Product Name Hundred Year Pen (marked on the cap)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA, circa 1941-45. This is the third version with the single cap band.
Length 5" (The barrel end has been replaced, so the pen might have originally been a big longer.)
Filling System Lever filler. We've replaced the sac and the filling system works well.
Color Translucent dark blue smooth cap and ribbed barrel with a replacement barrel end (the original would have beenblue and a bit longer), and gold plated trim. You can see a small amount of transparency on the top of the cap. At first glance, the pen (especially the barrel) looks black, but with strong light the cap is definitely blue, and we see blue near the end of the barrel.
Nib FINE Waterman's Hundred Year Pen gold nib. The face of the nib has a lot of polishing marks, which do not affect the nib's performance. Nice flexibility, giving line variation from fine or extra-fine to medium-broad with light pressure. See our writing sample in the photos.
Condition Excellent + condition. The barrel has light surface scratching. The lever has some plating wear. The clear barrel end piece is a replacement, and is in great shape. The cap has light to moderate scratching. There are a few light tooth marks in the smooth portion of the cap. The cap band has scratching, and also brassing along the edges. The clip has some plating wear along the sides, and light scratching on the face. The emblem on top of the cap has some brassing around the edges. All imprints are clear.
