Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen with a screw-on style cap.
Product Name 100 Year Pen (it's marked Hundred Year Pen on the cap and the nib).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA – circa 1940s.
Length Standard size, 5-1/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Pitch black, very shiny with gold plated trim with a wide 3/16" cap band with grooves on its edges.
Nib FINE gold Hundred Year Pen nib is fairly smooth with nice tipping material. It's not quite fully flexible, but it's more than what we generally call semi-flex, with easy line variation from fine to a nice broad, and a double broad with just light pressure. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition, though there's some scratching and wear on the cap and barrel. Also the clip is slightly bowed inward, and makes tight contact witht he cap. There are some very light spots of plating wear on the upper clip and tip, as well as on parts of the lever box. A few tiny pin-point marks on the cap band and clip. No cracks or chips. The plastic is very shiny and smooth, though you can see on the barrel where an engraving was taken out (see photos). They did a good job and stopped short of making a change to the contour of the plastic, and it's very hard to see. It's fully restored and working well.
