Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen with a screw-on style cap.
Product Name 100 Year Pen (it's marked Hundred Year Pen on the cap and the nib).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA – this is the last major version of the model, introduced circa 1943.
Length Standard size, 5-1/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Maroon with amber ends originally, but the end of the barrel has a replacement which is bright yellow. (The top of the cap retains its amber color). Very shiny with gold plated trim with a wide 3/16" cap band with grooves on its edges. Black section.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE gold Hundred Year Pen nib is smooth with nice tipping material. It's not quite fully flexible, but it's more than what we generally call semi-flex, with easy line variation from fine to broad, and a double broad with just light pressure. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition, only light wear on the cap and barrel. The clip shows some plating wear along the sides and around the tip. The clear amber celluloid on top of the cap has the beginnings of the typical cracking, but it's not nearly as severe as some others that we've seen. There are some small tooth marks near the top of the cap. The cap band has several tiny dents and pits, especially as seen in the first photo below. The cap band is not stuck in place, so it moves around, but it's not loose or in danger of falling off. The barrel has the typical marks from capping, but for the most part is smooth and shiny. The yellow piece on the end of the barrel is smooth and clear, so it's almost certainly a replacement. The lever bar and housing look great, with just a bit of brassing on the tab end. No cracks or chips. The plastic is very shiny and smooth. It's fully restored and working well.
