Color The "Onyx" color is a marbled caramel color with red veins, though this one has the typical darkening and discoloration. This celluloid was also notorious for not retaining its color over time, and this one is no exception. The section and cap lip are brick red. Gold-plated trim. The feed is red hard rubber.
Nib FINE semi-flex nib is a 14k gold Waterman IDEAL nib. There's not much in the way of line variation here, and you can see a "crease" about halfway between the breather hole and tip where a previous user tried REALLY hard to get more flex out of this nib. The nib is safe to use, but we recommend against flexing it.
Condition Excellent condition. There is a fair bit of discoloration, as mentioned above. The cap and barrel have moderate handwear and scratching. There are bite marks at the end of the barrel. There is scratching and some plating wear on the lever. The clip and cap band also have scratching and brassing, and and there is some plating wear around the open end of the clip. There is light scratching and marks on the gold-plated cap top piece, as well as plating wear around the edges. The imprints are clear.
The barrel is personalized with the name "FRANCES SELWITZ".
