Product Description
Type Vintage mechanical pencil
Product Name Red Ripple ... we're not certain which fountain pen went with this pencil, but our best guess is that it is the mate to a ripple 52, 53, or 54 pen, all of which were about the same size. It does have two bands at the top of the cap, so it might go with the Colorband models 5 or 7.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, Canada, 1920s (the imprint is very faint, but you can almost read "Canada" at the top of the cap.)
Length 5-9/16"
Filling System Takes thick style (1.1mm) leads. Lead extends in the traditional, twist mechanism, but you may have to push it with your finger to make it retract. We'll include a small pack of leads. The lead container is accessed by unscrewing the top piece.
Color Red hard rubber in the "Red Ripple" design, with gold plated trim.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a full size mechanical pencil that works well and has a fantastic color pattern. The pencil is personalized with "R. S. Hamilton". The "cap band" (which is really more like a belly band) and the two slim bands at the top of the cap have brassing and plating wear. The clip is in similar condition, with the area around the "Waterman's" imprint especially rough. The cone has some small scratches near the narrow point. The imprint is clear.
