Product Description
Type Lever fill fountain pen
Product Name Stalwart is the name you see on this pen in late 1940s ads
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, Canada, late 1940s
Length More or less full size -- 5" (there's a smaller version called the Starlet)
Filling System Lever filler - excellent working condition, restored with a new sac.
Color Gray in a marbled pattern that is vaguely stripey. The trim is chrome plated. There is a single thin cap band.
Nib 14k nib is marked "Watermans IDEAL 14-KT Canada" and is medium and nicely flexible. If you are looking for flex that is easy to write with on an every day basis, these 1940s Watermans can't be beat in terms of flex-per-dollar. Flexes up to broad (see writing sample below).
Condition Very Nice condition. The color is deep and luxurious with long swirls of shades of gray, ranging from dark charcoal to light smoke. The barrel has microscratching, but no deep scratches. There is a small crack at the very top of the cap, which does not affect the pen's function. The pen's imprint is a bit faded but still easily readable. The trim has brassing and plating wear.
