Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name This is the small "Starlet" version of the Stalwart pen.... it has a black band at the top, indicating a nurse's model. According to the excellent nursespens.com website, "If you worked the day shift, 7am to 3pm, you’d write in BLACK ink. Working 3 to 11? Then GREEN was the color. If you worked overnight, 11pm to 7am, you wrote on the charts in RED ink."
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- circa late 1940s.
Length Starlet size, 4-9/16"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Ivory marbled. Gold plated trim with a single thin cap band. The color looks great, with just a touch of ambering. The painted indicator at the top of the cap is black and so this was a "day" pen.
Nib FINE Waterman's Ideal 14k nib is smooth with great tipping material. It's smooth and springy, but doesn't really have any flex.
Condition Excellent + condition with better than average color. The color has ambered slightly, but is still in the "ivory" color family, and the pearly shimmer is still evident. There are some moderate scratches on the section, which do not affect the pen's writing performance. Light to moderate scratching on the cap and barrel. The area around the lever housing looks good, with no nicks or chips in the plastic around it. The clip has plating wear and brassing along the sides. The clip rivet is mostly brassed, with just a small amount of gold plating remaining. The cap band is brassed. No chips, dings dents, or personalization. The imprint is clear. The pen is fully restored and working well.
