Product Description
Type Vintage tab filler fountain pen
Product Name Welty/Autopoint (on the clip and barrel). There's been conjecture that Welty bought the remaining stock of Autopoint parts and assembled them with their own nibs.
Manufacturer and Year Welty Pen Company, made in Chicago, USA -- 1920s
Length 5-1/2".
Filling System Tab filler. Restored. Under the blind cap is a tab which depresses the lever by pushing it to one side, rather than pushing in like a button filler. See photos.
Color Lapis blue celluloid with big splotches of gold and thin swirls of pale blue, white, and black. Gold plated trim. Two trim bands. Black section.
Nib Medium 14k Mabie Todd #6 Eternal Nib. Firm, no flex. You see these pens with a variety of nibs including Welty and Autopoint, but this is undoubtedly a replacement.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, dents or dings. This is a large-sized pen with a bright, colorful, pattern. There is moderate scratching on the cap and barrel. There are some small "flea bites" on the lip of the cap. The clip and trim have plating wear. The company imprint is overstruck with the Autopoint model name. The imprints are clear.
